Vampire Weekend is my best guess as well. NY locals, new CD, and they go way back with the Dirty Projectors.
I am sort of hoping it is not the YYYs, and would love to see Jack White, Phoenix or DMB.
Kind of tough to know a lot right now since all of these candidates have not released summer tour dates yet. Looking at the 2nd liners could help too. NAS/Kendrick would play the main stage before Kanye; Ed Sharpe/Avetts before KOL; leaving Grizzly/Feist/The XX to play before the mystery headliner...could suggest that it would be a more electro-pop act like Phoenix or VW.

Really hoping it isn't yeah yeah yeahs, just not a fan.
Vampire Weekend or Mumford would be great, Phoenix too. If I had to hope for anybody it would be VW.
Probably yyy's though.

For everyone thinking its an EDM act, its gotta be someone that would get higher billing then Pretty Lights (and there's not a whole lot out there). Realistically if its an EDM act its gotta be Skrillex (please no), Justice, or Bassnectar. Maybe guys like Avicii and Deadmau5 would get that spot, but I'm really hoping its neither.
Stop talking about Daft Punk because its never gonna happen.

It's not going to be EDM. They have the hip hop, the radio friendly alt rock band, and their going to add an indie rock group next, look at most other fest line ups. Plus the Postal Service are playing Barclays a few days after this, so that rules them out.

MGMT is really lame live.

I would be REALLY unhappy if that last headliner was MGMT. I was reading that article about how they are purposely trying to get weirder. Their live set is lame and if they don't have any new poppy cuts to play then we'd be waiting around for a bunch of weird stuck up trash and then a recording of Kids playing while they dance around and we lose our minds on drugs and booze. Meh. I'll pass.
The YYY's on the other hand I would be pretty happy with!

I'm pretty sure they "liked" jack white on Facebook last year too so I don't think that's a clue. Plus I don't see them letting themselves slip like that and give away the surprise headliner. They're going to reveal it once the initial batch of ticket buyers is over to win over everyone on the fence about buying a ticket. Don't hold your breath over daft punk. Expect a big indie rock act. The big edm act is pretty lights and this isn't ultra so their not gonna top it off with another one. Honestly, I hope it isn't Jack White (I've seen him 3 times this year). That said, they did "unlike" him recently...You are probably right though. The Daft Punk thing was just a wish I know it isn't happening. YYY's seems like a solid fit. I don't really buy the "secret headliner" just to sell tickets at a later date though. If they had a third big headliner up there tickets would sell faster. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. If they could announce it they would have done it day 1. Gotta be a reason holding that back.

Stop talking about Daft Punk because its never gonna happen. I think Bassnectar might go. He just released his Spring 2013 tour, and there is a gap on governors ball weekend in his tour schedule. whiteraverrafting.com/pretty-ligh....013/2013/02/04/he says he doesnt like headlining more than once for festivals and governors ball is a fresh festival for him to pop. Back in December 2012 bassnectar and pretty lights did Bass Lights at the Hampton Colleseum. Read more: govball.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1&page=2#ixzz2JzyaeV4L

Please no. There's already one button pusher so close to the top of the bill, no need for two.

Mumford and Sons is pretty much the worst band I expect it to be.

Bassnectar just announced a bunch of dates with no NYC show and an opening for Gov. Ball.
That'd be a bummer. I don't hate Bassnectar but I'm hoping for something cooler/someone who hasn't toured endlessly EVERYWHERE over the last 3 years or so.
