While Guns n Roses are far from being one of my favorite bands, I'm cool with this announcement.
They have so many hits you dont even realize that you probably know all the words to them and will be singing along. Plus check youtube for guns n roses recent live show....they have some crazy shit going on onstage (pyro, fireworks, strippers)
Its hilarious how on facebook people are whining that they want a refund....its ONE band out of 70! You clearly didnt have a problem with the rest of the lineup, just skip them.

exactly. all these kids are so self-entitled and think their opinion matters. there is even a change.org petition. oh the travesty!

I feel like attendees have a right to feel deceived after all the hype and the surprise headliner ends up being a band that does not really fit the theme of the fest and is missing most of the original members.
Most reactions are a little over the top, and if everyone is that turned off, just use it as an excuse to venture into the city early on Sunday.
The irony of this thread and everyone's guesses is incredible now.

Everyone is saying that GNR doesnt fit the "vibe" or the "theme" of the festival. There is no theme! The lineup has Kanye West, Kings of Leon, Avett Brothers and Pretty Lights on it. Thats a rapper, a hard rock group, a folk group, and an electronic dance act. There is no common theme to this festival (or any other festival for that matter). They are trying to cater to every fan base and expose them to acts they wouldnt normally hear.

Oh and from a booking standpoint, getting GNR was really smart. If they had booked an act like the strokes or yyys, they would be mostly satisfying current ticket holders, and not gaining too many more sales. GNR is now targeting the festival to a whole new market = mo money.

the feeling of 'deception' is completely disingenuous. they have a right to feel 'disappointed' (which is really what they are feeling, but they want to blame it on some one else so they start to feel 'deceived') but deception is completely different. just because their hopes and dreams didn't line up with reality, it does not indicate that Founders deceived anyone, in any way.
by the way i'm not referencing yupster, just all the responses, especially on the change.org petition. it's really funny to see, a petition complaining about the quality of a headliner at a summer music festival next to a petition to get a nobel peace prize winner out of jail.

I thought that same thing re: change.org. This is not an issue of social injustice. Founders wasn't lying when they stated it was a throwback and they would surprise us...so extreme disappointment is a better way to put it.
Their setlist from the Tabernacle in Atl last year is actually kind of cool, but I'll leave all further GnR discussion to that thread.
Time to move on and worry about all the stellar acts and other happenings that will go down June 7-9.

The more I think about it...the more okay I get with the GNR booking. At first I had a WTF momment...but I'm going to get REALLY DRUNK and sing the shit out of Paradise City/Welcome to the Jungle/Sweet Child O Mine and watch pyrotechnics and lights. I can think of worse ways to spend the end of my day.
Or maybe they won't play unopposed and will have Pretty Lights against them or something...actually, I think I'd still go watch GNR over Pretty Lights just cuz I've seen them too many times.
