whose been on the radio just as much as Kanye and Kings of Leon with as much hit singles to be up to par as the third headliner? By those standards, DMB, M&S, Black Keys, and Pearl Jam are up to snuff. I think a more hyped up & comer would suffice too. Just setting myself up for a let down.

I was thinking the same thing that it would have to be someone of kanye or kings level. Both of those acts can, and have, headlined other major festivals, so the third headliner is hopefully someone of their caliber.

That tweet and facebook post make me really excited for tomorrow. I can't see them making this big of a deal out of Vampire Weekend...established throw back artist hmmm?

They already confirmed on facebook that it is NOT: Vampire Weekend, YYYs, The Strokes, Mumford & Sons, My Bloody Valentine and the Postal Service.
They also posted on twitter earlier that the third headliner will give "throw back thursday" a whole new meaning.

im completely stumped. Who the hell could it be?
Some last minute guesses based on their recent comments: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Grohl's Sound City Players, Weezer, Jack White, Swedish House Mafia, Chemical Brothers, The Cure or Depeche Mode
None of those are probably right

Out of the bands left, I am hoping for RHCP, but will that be a massive surprise?
Someone like the Cure, the Clash (do they still exist), or another UK throwback makes sense. Way out in left field we have the Gorillaz, some form of Queen, Van Morrison, Fatboy Slim, the Who, R.E.M, and who knows what else.
Hopefully these guys aren't just trying to sell tix ahead of the announcement with hype...smart bizness move though.

AC/DC, Rolling Stones, The Cure. They're not stupid enough to book RHCP. They also aren't a throwback band.

Definitely not AC/DC, The Stones are probably out of their budget, the Cure is touring and I would be SO down with that.

They're not stupid enough to book RHCP. They also aren't a throwback band. RHCP are absolutely a throwback band. Theyve been around for close to 30 years, and their biggest hits are all from 15 years ago. I was also thinking Destiny's Child is a possibility. As much as I would hate that and I dont think they would belong at govball, it would explain why they werent announced initially- waited for the superbowl appearance. Plus they havent had an album out in 12 years so they would definitely be a 'throw back' act
