Any good rumors floating around? What is your guess and why?

I think it'll be either the Postal Service, Strokes, or Phoenix. I'd be okay with any of those. Even though the Strokes can't play live. As long as it's not fucking Mumford and Sons...

my guess is it will be one of the following: Vampire Weekend, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Phoenix, Jack White, or The Postal Service. I'm thinking it will most likely be a big indie band, or possible someone big in EDM.

My guesses are either: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Killers, or an EDM act. My money is on the YYYs. I know the killers are playing an nyc show a month before govball so I was thinking maybe they are waiting for that show to sell out before they make a govball announcement.

Here is my two cents:
When Gov Ball announced the lineup they "liked" Jack White on facebook. It was the only artist they "like" that hasn't either played in the past or been announced this up coming year.
That's my guess. Jack White or a game changing world shaking Daft Punk appearance that I would cry over.

I'm pretty sure they "liked" jack white on Facebook last year too so I don't think that's a clue. Plus I don't see them letting themselves slip like that and give away the surprise headliner. They're going to reveal it once the initial batch of ticket buyers is over to win over everyone on the fence about buying a ticket. Don't hold your breath over daft punk. Expect a big indie rock act. The big edm act is pretty lights and this isn't ultra so their not gonna top it off with another one.

Looks like it's the YYYs according to a guy on last.fm. I'm cool with that.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Strokes, Mumford and Sons or an EDM act.... LONG shot, but I am hoping for Atoms for Peace.

I don't see Mumford and sons coming back to nyc so soon after playing Barclays twice. Atoms for peace is completely out of the question imo.

The URL theory was just disproved. So the YYYs aren't set in stone.

What was the URL theory? I would really love it to be Phoenix. Major downside is they are playing in Germany that weekend too, so it seems unrealistic. Slight upside is (to go along with the Jack White Facebook theory) Governors Ball started following Phoenix around the same time as Kanye and KoL on Twitter. So I guess it's only a slightly major downside.

Vampire Weekend or Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Both have LPs coming out this summer and are available. (Jack White and Phoenix aren't) Both of these bands are from NYC and would fill out the headliners as well with an authentic indie band instead of mainstream acts like Kanye and KOL. My money is on Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

The Black Keys are headlining a fest in NoCal. Not probable that they'd be here, but it's something to consider. I wouldn't mind if they played, I just think they've played enough festivals in the last year or so to take a break for a while.
